dc.description.abstract | Joint ventures (JVs) are an increasingly common feature of the process of land and agrarian reform in South Africa. They involve black people who currently have land rights or who are land reform beneficiaries and will be receiving a government subsidy on the one hand, and white commercial farmers, corporate entities or sectors of government on the other, engaging in joint agricultural or other land-related production. The partners enter into JVs for different reasons, but the schemes generally give land reform beneficiaries access to capital and land, lock in the expertise of white commercial farmers or companies, and empower land reform beneficiaries. | en_US |
