The focus of this mini-thesis is on the exploration of the connection between two dimensions of action strategies namely planning strategies and entrepreneurial orientation on the success according to the Giessen-Amsterdam Model of Entrepreneurial Success. It is argued that although the traditional factors (example, access to capital and markets) relating to failure are taken into account, this approach offers another perspective. It is confirmed that action strategies is the only variable that has a direct influence on success and human capital, personality and goal setting. but the environment has an indirect influence on success. The research has confirmed the findings of Frese (2000) and (2002) in that complete planning and critical point planning strategies have a positive impact on success while opportunistic planning and reactive planning strategies have a negative impact on success. The research further confirms the findings of Frese (2000) and (2002) that innovation, initiative and need for achievement have a positive impact on success. The researcher further argues that if the capacity of business owners is increased to adopt complete planning and critical point strategies as well as higher levels of entrepreneurial orientation especially in competitive environments, then higher levels of success is possible.
