The study examined the nexus between public-sector entrepreneurship and the performance of Zimbabwean parastatals, with a focus on the Ministry of Transport parastatals, that is, the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) and the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ). It explored public-sector entrepreneurship as a mechanism of enhancing innovation, proactivity, and risk-taking. This is all aimed at improving operational efficiency and service delivery within these government institutions. The research aimed to understand how entrepreneurial approaches within NRZ and TSCZ influenced organisational performance amid existing bureaucratic challenges and resource limitations. The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of entrepreneurial initiatives on the performance of these parastatals and to evaluate the role of leadership, strategic initiatives, technology adoption, and stakeholder collaboration. The research sought to provide insights into how public sector reforms could facilitate better outcomes in Zimbabwe's transport sector parastatals. The research adopted a qualitative research methodology and used in-depth interviews with officials from NRZ and TSCZ. The data was analysed through thematic analysis using Atlas-ti revealing patterns and themes related to innovation practices, management structures, and performance barrier.
