In about two-thirds of all countries in sub-Saharan Africa, low coverage of effective interventions to prevent maternal and child deaths has been attributed to both weaknesses in the supply and demand for health services. These interventions require access to and use of health services. Conceptually, the availability, quality of health care, financial and geographical accessibility, socio-economic and demographics factors and cultural barriers are the main factors associated with health care use. These associated factors and the causes of low utilization of health services have been studied by several authors in Burkina Faso and other countries, often from the point of view of health care demand or supply.en_US
