Abstract

There is an alarming number of uncontrolled hypertensive patients on treatment seen daily in out-patient clinics across Eswatini. Many have the avoidable complications of uncontrolled hypertension, such as renal failure and strokes. However, the health system is ill-equipped to manage all of these. Eswatini already has an enormous burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and rising related morbidity and mortality, with complications of hypertension among the top five causes of death. The factors associated with poor blood pressure (BP) control in these hypertensive patients in Eswatini are poorly understood as not many studies have looked into this problem.
