Controlling blood pressure (BP) among individuals with hypertension is important in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, maintaining optimal BP levels in individuals who are prone to drug-induced adverse reactions remains a challenge. Nonetheless, the magnitude of uncontrolled hypertension and drug-induced adverse reactions as well as contributing risk factors remain elusive, particularly among individuals residing in the rural areas of South Africa. Thus, establishing the magnitude of uncontrolled hypertension and understanding the complexity of drug-induced adverse reactions as well as associated risk factors, is important in determining appropriate intervention strategies.en_US
