Abstract

This study seeks to assess the access and use of school library information resources by school learners and the teachers. The study was conducted at Luhlaza High School using a qualitative approach and case study design. Data collection instruments include interviews, observation, focus group discussions and document analysis. The population for the study was the learners, teachers, school librarian and principal. Data collected was analysed using thematic content analysis. Constructivist learning theory was the lens for this study. The study findings revealed that the school library was stocked with inadequate resources that are irrelevant to the curriculum. The school does not have a qualified librarian to teach information literacy skills. The school has budget constraints, and learners and teachers are dissatisfied with the information resources in the library.
