Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic accelerated a trend that was already gaining momentum, namely a multigenerational workforce working in hybrid conditions. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to explore the impact of fun in a hybrid working environment among employees belonging to Generation X, Millennials and Generation Z. The Generational Cohort Theory in conjunction with Play in Adulthood theory allowed the researcher to understand whether fun in the workplace has been impacted by hybrid working and whether it is seen as a key retention feature or not across the generational cohorts. The Generational Cohort Theory is often used by academics and practitioners to create generational cohorts, which are based on age groups that are thought to have attitudes, thoughts, beliefs, and values that are similar. As this study has focused on exploring the impact and perceptions of generational cohorts, the study assumed an interpretivist perspective.
