dc.description.abstract | Family environments can greatly affect the prospects of the children and their succeeding generations. South Africa's socio-political history and contextual circumstances continue to affect the structure and functioning of families. However, in spite of - or perhaps because of - these factors, many families thrive in such adversity. Research has explored and identified many processes such as social support, self-efficacy, availability of resources, and family resilience, which can moderate the effects of adversity. Family resilience processes have been shown to significantly reduce deleterious consequences of adversity in families. | |
