It has been submitted that an increasingly integrated and globalised economy demands appropriate and effective governance policies with a view to sustainability and well-governed wealth creation. There is a growing consensus that good corporate governance policies improve the sustainability of companies by, among other things, increasing access to capital via investment. The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) promotes a similar argument by asserting that good corporate governance policies enhance, inter alia, investor confidence.
