| dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study is to investigate the occurrence of Gender-based violence in South Africa, with a specific focus on the township of Khayelitsha. It aims to identify the gaps in our law with regards to GBV laws and policies and to provide recommendations on how we could tackle these issues. It also looks at the current strengthening efforts introduced by government and the Bills that were passed by parliament in 2021 and signed into law in February 2022. The study includes the issue of violence against women, and young girls with a specific focus on the challenges faced by these individuals when reporting and the role of our criminal justice system. The main focus is on the current ongoing cases in the community of Khayelitsha. | |
