Item Trade and development in the WTO: special and differential treatment for developing countries in the WTO(University of the Western Cape, 2000) Bolton, P.S; Wandrag, MThe integration of developing countries into the multilateral trade system has greatly evolved over the last fifty years, as has the thinking about the nature of trade policies appropriate for development. The purpose of this paper is to trace the evolution of developing countries' participation in the multilateral trade system, and to link this evolution to the changing consensus on the international trade policies that may be conducive to development.
