dc.description.abstract | Linear regression equations for the prediction of the mesiodistal widths of unerupted canines and premolars were calculated for a large sample of recent orthodontic patients. The form of the equations, as well as the size of the various confidence belts, were generally similar to those in the widely used but incompletely characterized Michigan Mixed Dentition Analysis. Although either set of tables would seem equally appropriate, a simple approximation— half the width of the mandibular incisors plus either 11.0 for the maxillary canine-premolar segments, or 10.5 for the mandibular segments— is of comparable accuracy.
