Thus, the oral and nasal mucosae serve as the main routes and reservoirs for aerosolized transmission of the viral particles to the external environment and hence infection transmission. Statins have been shown to have antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antioxidant properties.
