Numerous advantages including lower raw material costs and simplicity of manufacture, have contributed to their growing popularity. However, several reasons limit their commercialization, one of which is the presence of lead (Pb). The concerns remain over potential impacts to the environment and human health arising from the use of toxic lead. Therefore, it is crucial to develop the perovskite that is Pb free. The initial part of this work is to develop caesium gallium bromide (CsGaBr4) perovskites, replacing lead with gallium from the existing lead-containing inorganic perovskites.enCaesium gallium bromideCaesium gallium iodobromideNanoparticlesPerovskitesSolarPhotovoltaics of novel samarium and terbium doped caesium gallium iodobromide hollow-nanocrystals perovskiteUniversity of the Western Cape
