The study aims to explore whether the current treatment of refugees in South Africa is in accordance with existing international norms and standards for the protection of refugees. The study focuses on the realisation of the above-mentioned socio-economic rights in order to measure the treatment. The study also seeks to address the obstacles which prevent the full and proper treatment of refugees, and to make recommendations as to how South Africa can better regulate the treatment of refugees living in its territory.
