Reaching a 60-year anniversary is a remarkable milestone. The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has defied many odds over the past 60 years and it is still going strong. The latest edition of Blue and Gold sports magazine celebrates the 60th anniversary of UWC and some of the many sporting milestones that the University has achieved over the years. In the past six decades, UWC has produced many athletes and administrators who have shone on the national and international stages, while sports and politics on a university campus became connected to much larger forces in the community and, with time, became a groundswell of opposition to apartheid. And with a growing number of current and former student athletes making their mark and with revolutionary new technology, the future looks bright for the current and coming generations. Every year, the Access to Success staff fundraising campaign aims to secure support for hundreds of financially distressed final-year students to graduate. In 2020, your support is needed, now more than ever. COVID-19 has presented us with problems we could not have imagined and the Higher Education sector has not been left unscathed. Tte 2020 NoStudentLeftBehind (#NSLB) campaign aims to raise funds for the acquisition of IT hardware (e.g. laptops) to support our students in need.
